ਕਾਮ-ਵੱਸ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਚਤੁਰਾੲੀਅਾਂ, ਠੱਗੀਅਾਂ, ਨਕਾਰੇ-ਪਨ ਵਿੱਚ, ਦੂਜਿਅਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਹੇ ਕਮਲਿਅਾ! ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਗੁਜਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਕਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।

Being engrossed in lust, anger, fraud, deception & laziness: O fool! you have wasted your life in slander and never remember the Lord in meditation.

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਝੂਠ ਨਿੰਦਾ ੲਿਨ ਤੇ ਅਾਪਿ ਛਡਾਵਹੁ ।।

ੲਿਹ ਭੀਤਰ ਤੇ ੲਿਨ ਕੳੁ ਡਾਰਹੁ ਅਾਪਨ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਬੁਲਾਵਹੁ।।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਝੂਠ ਨਿੰਦਾ (ਅਾਦਿਕ) ੲਿਹਨਾਂ (ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਤੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਾਪ ਛੁਡਾ ਲੈ। ਮੇਰੇ ੲਿਸ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ੲਿਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦੇ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਾਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈ।

Sexual desire, anger, greed, falsehood & slender please, save me from these vices, O Lord! Please eradicate these from within me & take me close to you.

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ) ਮਾੲਿਅਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਅਾਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋੲਿਅਾ ਹੈ ੳੁਹ (ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਅੰਨਾ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਅੱਖ ੳੁਸ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ੳੁਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਧਿਅਾਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ), ਪਰ ਮਾੲਿਅਾ ਦਾ ਖਪਾੳੁਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰੌਲਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜੋ ਲੋਕ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਸ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਓਹਨਾ ਦਾ ਜਿਓਣਾ ਫਿਟਕਾਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ (ਆਸ ਇਕ ਰੱਬ ਤੇ ਹੀ ਰੱਖੋ)।

ਪੰਜ ਭੁਤਨੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਸਾਡੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਨੂੰ, ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਲਦੇ (ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਦੇ) ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਅਾਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਸਾਂਦੇ, ੳੁਹ ੲਿਹਨਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੲੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਗਿਅਾ ਤਾਂ (ੲਿਹ ਕੋਝਾ ਜੀਵਨ) ਜਿੳੁਂ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਤੂੰ ਮਰਿਅਾ ਹੋੲਿਅਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਰੱਬ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਾੲਿਅਾ, ਭਾਵ ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ੳੁਹ ਦੀਨ ਦੲਿਅਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Farid! If you do not wake out at the time of Amrit, you have also been loved. Even if you have forgotten God, God did not forget you, the God will give you the Most happiness.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਸੋੲਿ।।

ਮੈਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਾੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ; (ਜੋ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ! ਅਾਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਖੋਜ, ਘਬਰਾਹਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਂ ਭਟਕ। ੲਿਹ ਜਗਤ ੲਿੱਕ ਜਾਦੂ ਦਾ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ, ੲਿਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੱਥ ਪੱਲੇ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕੋੲੀ ਸ਼ੈ ਨਹੀਂ।

O human being, search your own heart every day and do not wander around in confusion. This world is just a magic show; you will not get anything from it.

ਧੰਨ ਜੀਓ ਤਿਹ ਕੋ ਜਗ ਮੈ

ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਚਿੱਤ ਮੈ ਜੁਧੁ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ।।

ਜਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ੳੁਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀੳੁਣਾ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ (ਜੋ) ਮੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਹਰਿ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਾਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਧਰਮ ਯੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਪਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
