ਦੁੲਿ ਪੁੜ ਜੋੜਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਿਅਨੁ 

ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੋ।।

ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪੁੜ (ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼) ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਗਤ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੈ।

He brought together and then separated the two grinding stones of the earth and the sky; without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੀਅੈ 

ਪਾੲੀਅੈ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ।।

ਹੇ ਰੱਖਿਅਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਅਾ ਕਰ। ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਾਸਰੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਅਾ ਪਿਅਾ ਹਾਂ।

Renouncing everything, I have come to the Guru's Sanctuary, save me, O my Savior Lord.

ਰੋਗੀ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਖੰਡਹੁ ਰੋਗੁ।।

ਦੁਖੀੲੇ ਕਾ ਮਿਟਾਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੋਗੁ।।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਰੋਗੀ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਦੁਖੀੲੇ ਦਾ ਗਮ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।

God eradicates the disease from the diseased person. God takes away the sorrows of the suffering.
